Unemployment Rate at 3.6% in August

In August 2022, the unemployment rate stood at 3.7% in Hungary, according to data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The number of unemployed persons amounted to 177,000.

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service, the number of registered jobseekers decreased by 9.6% to 231,000.

In the June–August period of 2022, the average number of unemployed persons equaled 166,000 and the unemployment rate 3.4%.

In June-August, the number of unemployed persons aged 15–74 years decreased by 34,000 and their unemployment rate by 0.7 percentage points. Among males, the number of unemployed persons was 92,000, and the unemployment rate was down by 0.5 percentage points to 3.6%. Among females, the number of unemployed people equaled 73,000, and the unemployment rate fell by 1 percentage point to 3.2%.
