Romania Jobless Rate Ticks Higher in April

Romania's unemployment rate stood at 5.6% in April, up by 0.1 percentage points from the rate recorded in March, the Bucharest-based National Institute of Statistics (INS) said on Wednesday.

There were 461,100 registered unemployed in Romania in April, compared to 454,100 in March and 454,000 in April last year.

The jobless rate among women was 5% versus 6.1% among men.

Adults aged 25 to 74 who were without a job in April represented 76.9% of all unemployed people.

Unemployment among people aged 15 to 24 remained high at 21.7%.
