Besides seasonal jobs, re-opening catering and accommodation establishments, events and commercial companies will also need a considerable amount of additional workforce in the summer, including a substantial number of student workers, staffing company Trenkwalder said yesterday, according to hrportal.hu.

The number of workers aged 15-24 years old employed in the summer months could come close to 300,000 this year compared to 257,000 in June 2020 and 271,000 in April 2021.

Trenkwalder commercial director József Nógrádi said foreign workers have not yet returned and staff that had to be laid off earlier cannot be rebuilt in an instant.

Therefore, flexible forms of employment including student jobs will be important in the summer, he said. In a recent survey, Trenkwalder found that 36% of young people working student jobs look for casual job opportunities, 33% work continuously in jobs not closely related to their studies and 31% of respondents are in internship positions.
