The number of Hungarian students studying at foreign universities has risen from 13,888 in 2016/2017 to 17,052 in the 2021/2022 academic year, Eduline reports, according to hrportal.hu.

The six most popular countries for Hungarian students are the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Due to Brexit, the number of students in undergraduate courses at British universities has decreased by 71% since the 2020/2021 academic year.

The United Kingdom's place on the list was taken by the Netherlands, where the number of Hungarians studying abroad increased by 34% in one year, with 1,979 attending a Dutch higher education institution.

According to Balázs Lévai, co-founder and managing director of the Engame Academy, Dutch universities are relatively affordable: EUR 2,168 for one academic year and half of that is waived in the first year.
