Number of Jobseekers Falls 10% y.o.y. in August

The number of registered jobseekers in Hungary reached 231,091 in August, 24,610 fewer than in the same month a year earlier, a decline of 10%, state news wire MTI reports citing data released by the National Employment Service (NFSZ).

The number of jobseekers was practically flat compared to the previous month.

The data show 3,031 Hungarians registered as jobseekers for the first time during the month. The total number of new jobseeker registrations, including repeat registrations, reached 28,568.

Around 39% of registered jobseekers received no jobseekers' allowance or social assistance in August.

About 38% had been seeking work for longer than a year.

The average period jobseekers were registered was 504 days.
