Number of Jobseekers Edges up 1%

The number of registered jobseekers in Hungary reached 227,341 in July, edging up 1% from a month earlier but falling 2% from the same period in 2022, according to data released by the National Employment Service.

The data shows 4,346 Hungarians registered as jobseekers for the first time during the month.

The total number of new jobseeker registrations, including repeat registrations, reached 32,901.

Around 42% of registered jobseekers received no allowance or social assistance in July.

About 36% had been seeking work for longer than a year. Jobseekers were registered for 495 days on average.
