Some 21,273 work accidents occurred in Hungary in 2022, of which 68 were fatal, writes hrportal.hu.
Accidents with the most severe outcomes occur mainly in Budapest, in the construction industry and mostly among workers employed by small companies. They are more common among men over 45 years old, according to the report.
Those working in the financial fields or Heves, Nógrád, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties, on the other hand, have little to fear, or those engaged in security activities, counter-intuitively.
Most workplace deaths are caused by slipping, tripping, and the malfunctioning or breaking loose of various work machines.
Last year's figure is a few hundred cases lower than what was reported in 2021. There were also 16 fewer fatal accidents.
