New general manager at Matild Palace

Selim Ölmez, the hotel manager of Matild Palace, has been appointed to the role of general manager taking over from Emre Pasli, who has led the palace for 6 years and will continue his professional career in Qatar as of June.

Owing to his more than 23 years' experience in the hospitality and hotel industry and at various brands of Marriott International, the new general manager has extensive knowledge of luxury brands and international experience in pre-openings, operational excellence, marketing, communications, reputation and revenue management, F&B and hotel operations.

Before joining the executive board of Matild Palace in 2019, Ölmez has gained professional experience at several brands of Marriott International, Inc., such as Sheraton, W Hotels, and St.Regis. He worked at five-star luxury properties like The St. Regis Astana in Kazakhstan, The St. Regis Istanbul & Spago by Wolfgang Puck in Turkey, and The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The 130-room Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest, belonging to The Luxury Collection portfolio of Marriott International, made its debut last summer, together with the first European Spago restaurant, the secret rooftop bar, The Duchess, and in May 2022 the reimagination of the former “Belvárosi Kávéház”, the Matild Café & Cabaret with more than 120 years of history behind it - all under the culinary supervision of world-famous chef Wolfgang Puck.

Ölmez holds several international awards, among others: Starwood Hotels & Resorts - President’s Award, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts – Service Delivery Award, Starwood EAME Awards and Best SPA marketing Middle East, Middle East SPA Awards.

He graduated from Akdeniz University, Institute of Social Sciences, being a Master of Public Relations and Advertising, and at Gazi University’s Faculty of Economics Administrative and Social Sciences in Turkey.

Apart from his native Turkish, the specialist is fluent in English, and speaks German and Russian well.
