Analysis

Sales of personal computers in Hungary jumped by a year-on-year 8%, reaching 590,000 units in 2014 despite the y.o.y. 16% drop in Q4, Hungarian business daily Világgazdaság reported today, citing data from market researcher IDC.

IDC analyst Bence Bagi said that in Q4 sales of desktop computers fell by 38%, down to 34,000, however notebook and laptop purchases rose by 2%, up to 126,000. Bagi added that tablet sales decreased by 15% to 123,000 in Q4, and “probably dropped by around the same rate for the full year”.

Bagi anticipates PC sales will climb again due to purchases which are likely to be made soon by government institutions and big businesses.
