A new portal for Hungarian startups will be launched jointly by Design Terminal, the Hungarian unit of IBM and We Love Budapest to help support the Hungarian government’s Digital Prosperity Program, according to reports.

The portal, which will be called Budapest Makers, is to be launched in the fall, Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy, Design Terminalʼs head, said at Budapestʼs Akvárium Klub on Saturday, on the sidelines of Brain Bar Budapest innovation festival.

IBM has already helped launch similar portals in 20 big cities around the world, including New York, Berlin, Amsterdam and Prague, said IBM Business Development Director for Southeast Europe Ferenc Pongrácz, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The cooperation could turn Budapest into a startup center in Europe, Tamás Deutsch, the prime ministerʼs commissioner for the Digital Welfare Program said, according to MTI.
