MAVIR to spend HUF 4 bln on power line update

Transmission system operator MAVIR, part of the state-owned energy group MVM, will spend more than HUF 4 bln on the upgrade of power line pillars and the optical connection of power lines under two tenders, the latest issue of the Public Procurement Gazette shows.

MVM Ovit, also a unit of MVM, and EKS won the tender for the power line pillar update with a bid of HUF 2.51 bln. EKS Service is a joint venture of Germany's ENACO Energieanlagen- und Kommunicationstechnik and the state-owned Hungarian Electricity Works (MVM).

Omexom, an international brand of Vinci Energies Group, owned by Germany's Hochspannung Leitungsbau, won the tender for the construction of the optical connections. There were no other bidders at neither of the tenders. The three companies were the sole and winning bidders of a third MAVIR power line tender, with a bid of HUF 14.2 bln, according to an announcement made earlier last week.
