Magyar Telekom plans expansion of broadband service
Magyar Telekom, the Hungarian subsidiary of German telco giant Deutsche Telekom, plans to expand its broadband internet service coverage in the country to include an additional 530,000 households by the end of this year, CFO János Szabó said today, according to reports.
The CFO said MTel is planning to carry out the developments using its own resources, but other smaller investment projects could be funded from ongoing EU grants, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
The Hungarian company is also planning to improve indoor coverage for its mobile network. The outdoor coverage of its mobile network already reached 97% across Hungary by the end of last year.
Revenues were stable on the Macedonian market, but continued to fall in Montenegro, the CFO said, commenting on the earnings report the company issued late yesterday, MTI reported. In Hungary the company improved efficiency and saw rising revenue in every market segment where they continued to do business. The rise of fixed-line revenues shows that network development is a good investment, he said.
