Magnus Aircraft to build factory in Pécs
Hungaryʼs Magnus Aircraft aims to build a HUF 5.2 billion plant in Pécs, according to state news wire MTI. The firm announced on its website that it has submitted investment plans in an open tender for the designated area of Pécs-Pogány Airport.
The government is awarding Magnus Aircraft a HUF 2 bln grant for the investment, which will create 105 jobs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced in Budapest yesterday. Magnus Aircraft was the first company in the world to develop a two-seater aircraft made from composite materials and capable of aerobatics, he noted.
Construction of the 7,500 square-meter plant next to the Pécs-Pogány Airport will start in September, said CEO László Boros. The company expects to launch an electric version of its aerobatic trainer aircraft, supported by German engineering company Siemensʼ innovation, in the near future, he added.
A statement on the Magnus Aircraft website says the firmʼs Fusion 212 recently received the Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Special Light-Sport Aircraft (S-LSA) Category, adding that this, and continuously growing interest for the Fusion 212 from all over the world, requires serial production to be started. The firm says the airport would provide greater accessibility and opportunities for further research and development.
