As part of AvtoVAZ and Lada Hungary’s joint European pilot program, Lada models will again be available for purchase in Hungary as of November, a press release reported today.

Following talks with Russian AvtoVAZ, Hungarian car dealership Duna Autó Zrt. became eligible to distribute Ladas in Hungary as of July 1, when the two parties signed the contract. Distribution will be handled by distributor Lada Hungary Disztribúció Kft., which was founded by the owners of Duna Autó Zrt.

The press release notes that before the change of regime in Hungary Ladas were popular cars, however after 1990, the firm began concentrating on the Russian market.

“We are proud to be the first to distribute Lada not only in Hungary, but also in Europe. I believe that the new models will be just as popular as their old counterparts used to be, with the only difference being that Lada has grown up to enter the European market. The new cars are of high quality and well-equipped; they can be sporty and their prices are attractive,” Zoltán Makó, Lada Hungary’s project director, said.
