KSH: Tourism industry see slight uptick in December

From the Central Statistics Office (KSH): In December 2013, the number of domestic tourism nights in Hungary rose 8.9% year-on-year, while the number of international tourism nights remained stagnant (0.6%). The gross revenues of accommodation establishments grew by 8.8% at current prices. In the course of this year, the number of arrivals rose by 4.6%. 

In December, foreign guests spent 647,000 tourism nights in accommodation establishments, an increase of 0.6% y.o.y.

Arrivals from the more important source countries changed differently: The number of arrivals from Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom decreased (by 3.7%, 3.9% and 10%, respectively), while the increases were seen in the number of nights spent by tourists from Italy (2.4%), Russia (20%) and the Czech Republic (9.8%).

In December, domestic guests spent 658,000 tourism nights in accommodation establishments resulting in a 6.6% rise in arrivals and an 8.9% increase in tourism nights y.o.y.

The total revenues of accommodation establishments were 8.8% higher at current prices year-on-year. Accommodation establishments had total gross revenues of HUF 21 billion, with accommodation fee revenues amounting to HUF 11 billion. Catering services generated sales of HUF 5.6 billion, 203 million more than in December of 2012.
