Wizz Air, Pratt & Whitney sign jet agreement

Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air and Pratt & Whitney signed an agreement valued at more than $2.5 million for the assembly of the airline’s aircraft employing Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan jet engines, according to a press release issued today.

Under the agreement, Wizz Air is also participating in a long-term fleet management program as a partner of Pratt & Whitney, in order to continuously secure the high standard of maintenance of new technology jet engines, the press statement said.
“After intensive investigation we found that the Geared Turbofan jet engine offers the best price-value ratio, as well as maximum fuel and operation effectiveness… these contribute to further decreasing our operational costs,” Wizz Air CEO József Váradi said.
