Wizz Air issues EUR 500 mln bond

Transport

Hungarian low-fare carrier Wizz Air on Thursday announced the issue of a EUR 500 million debut bond, according to a report by Hungarian news agency MTI.

The notes, due in 2024, carry a 1.35% coupon.

The offering was "multiple times oversubscribed", the airline said.

"Taking advantage of a strong underlying financing market and highly attractive pricing, Wizz Air intends to use the proceeds to further strengthen its leading liquidity position," it added.

Wizz Air had close to EUR 1.6 billion in cash at the end of the first half of its business year started April 1, an earnings report released in November showed.
