Wizz Air extends maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik Group

Hungary’s low-cost airline Wizz Air has extended its maintenance contract with German Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International (LTMI) and Lufthansa Technik Budapest (LTB) for its fleet based in Hungary, Romania and Slovakia for eight more years, according to an announcement issued today. Wizz Air did not reveal the value of the contract.

Wizz Air CEO József Váradi, LTMI CEO Ulrich Hollerbach and LTB CEO Dietmar Focke signed a contract on the extension of the cooperation yesterday.
Under the agreement LTMI will be responsible for all the maintenance works of Wizz Air planes in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureș, Timișoara and Craiova in Romania and Košice in Slovakia, while LTB will be responsible for Budapest and Debrecen in Hungary, Wizz Air’s announcement says.
LTB will also be in charge of the operations of Wizz Air’s recently opened maintenance hangar at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport.
As a result of the contract, the companies expect to employ 100 workers in the region.
