Volánbusz takes delivery of first electric bus from BYD

State-owned bus company Volánbusz on Tuesday took delivery of its first fully electric, self-owned bus, manufactured by the European unit of China's BYD, which assembles the vehicles in Komárom (about 74 km northwest of Budapest), according to a report by state news wire MTI.
The BYD K9UB model will carry passengers between Komárom and the Slovakian settlement of Komarno, on the other side of the Danube. The unit price of the vehicle is HUF 154 million.
BYD manufactures environmentally friendly buses with modern technology and plays an important role in our efforts to restore Hungary to its former position in European bus production, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the event in Komárom.
