Three of top five carriers at Ferihegy Airport low-cost airlines
Three of the top five airlines flying from Budapest's Ferihegy Airport were low-cost carriers in the first half of 2006, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.
Hungarian national airline Malév remained the airport's biggest carrier in terms of passenger numbers, carrying 1.5 million out of a total 3.8 million departing and arriving passengers in the first half of 2006. Malév carried about 100,000 more passengers in the first half year-on-year. Low-cost airline easyJet followed with 314,000 passengers, about 30,000 fewer year-on-year. In third place was German carrier Lufthansa with 287,000 passengers, about 33,000 more year-on-year. Next were low-cost airlines Wizz Air, carrying 135,000 passengers, and Sky Europe, with 134,000 passengers.
