Survey: 27% of Hungarians to travel abroad this summer

By the end of the summer 27% of Hungarians will have traveled abroad for their holidays, and more than 10% of them will have traveled by airplane, a representative survey published yesterday by Emirates Airline reveals.

The survey shows that Hungarians are planning to spend an average of HUF 120,000 on traveling by air, with 70% of them booking the journey individually. The major decision making factors for traveling by air are the price of the ticket and the maximum baggage load they can carry.

However, in case of longer trips, food on offer and the quality of on-board entertainment system is an importan factor in making a decision. Although the majority of Hungarians traveling abroad opt for close destinations – Austria, Italy and Croatia being the most popular ones – the most popular distant destinations are the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates and Canada.

Some 79% of the respondents spend their savings on the traveling costs, with approximately three fourth of them covering their travel with insurance.
