This year the government is providing Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) with additional resources for the renovation of the Vecsés-Üllő-Monor track section, for passenger traffic investments of the Nyugati (Western) and Keleti (Eastern) stations, said MÁV Zrt. chairman and CEO Róbert Homolya, according to origo.hu.

Homolya said the railway company will receive HUF 20 billion in funds for the renovation of the Vecsés-Üllő-Monor section of the Budapest-Cegléd line, and the government will provide the railway company with about HUF 2 bln for EU-funded passenger traffic investments at Nyugati and Keleti.

Homolya added that the Budapest-Cegléd section was used by more than 40,000 people a day before the first coronavirus shutdown was announced, and is one of the busiest railway lines in the country.
