MÁV-Volán Seeking to Expand Bicycle Transportation

Tickets suitable for transporting 1.2 million bicycles were purchased for Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) routes in 2022; the transport of cycles on trains has increased by 40% in the last three years, writes business daily Világgazdaság.
The service will continue to expand this year, and some Volán coach routes will also transport bicycles, the MÁV-Volán group announced at a press conference in Budapest yesterday.
The corporate group emphasized that among its sustainability objectives, the continuous improvement of the conditions for bicycle transportation on public transport vehicles plays a significant role.
It added that supporting cycling tourism also promotes sustainable modes of transport and significantly reduces the environmental burden.
