Hungary has issued more than 60,000 green number plates for fully electric and hybrid vehicles, the Technology and Industry Ministry said on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The number of green number plates has more than tripled since early 2020. Over 54pc of all vehicles with green number plates are fully electric, it added.

The green number plates, launched late in 2015, are for fully electric vehicles as well as plug-in, full and range-extender hybrids, depending on the distance they can travel using batteries.
