E-motorcycles can now get green license plates
From August 11, fully electric motorcycles are now eligible to get green license plates, which confer several benefits and tax preferences, the Innovation and Technology Ministry (ITM) said on Wednesday.
Owners can request the environmental classification or reclassification of their vehicles during a roadworthiness test or an official inspection.
Including quads and mopeds, around three to four hundred electric motorcycles could acquire green license plates. Of the regular two-wheeled motorcycles, there are about 150 electric ones on the roads in Hungary.
According to the ITM the environmentally friendly motorcycles are not subject to registration tax and property transfer tax and they are exempt from the vehicle tax.
