Almost 700 million people traveled on routes of the MÁV-Volán group (MÁV-Start, MÁV-HÉV, and Volánbusz) last year, according to profitline.hu.
In 2022, almost 97 million paying passengers traveled on MÁV-Start routes and 63 million paying passengers on MÁV-HÉV lines; passenger traffic is now barely behind the data of the last year before the pandemic.
The change in shopping habits is also noticeable, as more people use online and self-service interfaces.
The proportion of passengers who bought tickets online, with the Elvira timetable planner or the MÁV application, rose from 28% in 2021 to 35% by 2022 at MÁV-Start.
