Wolt Expands in 10 Hungarian Cities This Fall

From the Danube Bend to Zalaegerszeg, Wolt launches its delivery service in 10 new Hungarian cities in the coming weeks, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

From mid-September, residents of Budapest’s Southern metropolitan area (Szigetszentmiklós, Szigethalom, Halásztelek, Tököl, Dunaharaszti, and Taksony) can try Wolt’s quick and convenient delivery, followed by Zalaegerszeg and Gödöllő in October and Vác and Üröm in November. Wolt's home delivery, be it pizza, noodles, or even the weekly grocery shopping, will now be available for almost half of the country’s population in more than 30 Hungarian cities.

In the new cities, Wolt will launch its services by offering special discounts for its customers.

"The launch of new cities proves that besides the customers’ demand for our service, restaurants, and retailers also see an important growth opportunity in quick home delivery with Wolt. Our goal is to connect even more customers and merchants by opening new sales channels for retailers and restaurants while offering our courier partners a flexible work opportunity. We are committed to helping our retail and restaurant partners reach even more customers and guests on our platform this coming fall season, as well," said László Sabjányi, managing director of Wolt Hungary.

"Since we launched Wolt Hungary in 2018, we have been noticing a growing demand for quick delivery of not only restaurant food but a wide range of retail goods. This is especially true in the suburbs of Budapest, where residents working in the central districts would like to order from Wolt also in their homes in the evenings and on weekends. Budapest’s Southern metropolitan area is the fastest growing region of the country, so it is important that our customers can access our service here," added Sabjányi.

Zalaegerszeg is one of the last big cities in the country where Wolt's couriers have not yet appeared. Home delivery in the city will launch in cooperation with nearly 30 partners, so beyond restaurant food, residents will be able to choose from a wide range of retail goods from pet food to plants and everyday essentials or other grocery items.

Wolt is also developing the delivery platform by adding new, flexible services for restaurant and retail partners. With the help of Wolt Drive, customers can order on the merchants’ own webshop and Wolt couriers will deliver the ordered items to their doorsteps. On the other hand, with the Wolt self-delivery service customers can order from Wolt’s app, but merchants will take care of the home delivery themselves.

In addition to the thousands of restaurant partners, Wolt’s app now includes a growing range of retail partners, for example, Auchan, Coop, Tesco, and Manna as well as other retail stores delivering customers a wide range of items from cosmetics to COVID tests, dietary supplement products, toys, or even shoes in 30 minutes. Besides, Wolt's own delivery-only retail store, Wolt Market, currently operates at seven locations in the country.
