Sales of Hungarian toy seller Regio Játék rose 4.5% to HUF 13.8 billion last year, supported by new store openings, the company said on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Regio took over a number of peer Játékvár and Játékbox stores early last year, including three in big Budapest shopping centers. It also opened several of its own shops in the capital and in other cities around the country

Sales around the Christmas holiday reached HUF 7 bln, Regio Játék said.

Board games, creative toys, and Lego sets were last year's best-sellers. Dolls and toy vehicles were also popular.

The average purchase per visit to Regio Játék's brick-and-mortar stores rose to HUF 7,578 last year from HUF 7,038 in 2019.

The average purchase in the company's webshop was unchanged at around HUF 10,000, but online sales doubled.
