Spar plows over HUF 6.5 bln into store upgrades, addition

Supermarket chain Spar has spent more than HUF 6.5 billion to open a new unit and renovate existing stores in four settlements, the retailer told MTI.
Spar spent HUF 4.7 bln to upgrade its hypermarket in Pecs (SW Hungary) and over HUF 0.8 bln to open a new store in Budapest's District IX. It also spent over HUF 1 bln on store renovations in Ócsa, south of the capital, and in Gyöngyös.
Spar had 614 shops at the end of last year, including 35 hypermarkets, 345 supermarkets, and 234 franchise shops. Headcount reached 14,500. Spar Magyarország Kereskedelmi had revenue of HUF 792 bln last year. CAPEX came to HUF 32 bln.
