Spar Magyarország to continue expansion of store network

Spar Magyarország Kft has recently opened two new Interspar hypermarkets in northeastern Hungary and will inaugurate three more such stores in other parts of the country over the coming weeks, business daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday.
Spar will also open two units of a new type of store called City Spar in Budapest next month as well as 14 more Spar supermarkets in various locations by the end of the year. Spar Magyarország Managing director Péter Feiner said his company would continue to expand its network of stores as long as there was room on the market to do so. Spar is financing its expansion campaign through both internal and external sources, according to the paper.
Spar Magyarország currently operates 177 stores in Hungary, including 24 Interspar hypermarkets and 22 Kaiser's outlets. Világgazdaság reported that Spar is also planning to increase its distribution capacity, either through expansion of its current logistical center located just outside Budapest or construction of a brand new facility.
