Spar Magyarország Reaches Franchise Program Milestone

Supermarket chain Spar Magyarország marked the tenth anniversary of its franchise program on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

At present, 237 Spar shops operate as franchises in Hungary. They employ over 3,000 people in 114 settlements.

The franchises include 34 Spar "partner" shops and 66 Spar "market" shops, as well as 86 Spar Express shops at OMV petrol stations and 51 Despar stores at Lukoil petrol stations.

The franchises account for 10% of turnover at all Spar shops in Hungary.

Spar Magyarorszag had revenue of close to HUF 792 bln last year. The headcount at the business reached 14,500.
