The share of e-commerce in Hungary has grown dynamically in the last decade, according to profitline.hu.

From 2019 to 2020, an increase of 35% was already measurable. The significant increase in online sales was due to the changing consumer habits resulting from the pandemic.

However, a reversal in this area was shown by the State Audit Office (ÁSZ) experts in their latest analysis.

Several forward-looking technological developments have affected e-commerce and the payments that support it, but regulations have not kept pace with developments in all respects.

Sanctions to ensure the protection of consumers and their data have only been developed in the context of national legislation.

Therefore, the ÁSZ analysts drew attention to strengthening consumer awareness to make people responsible when shopping online.
