Serbia's retail sales decreased 3.2% year-on-year in July, following a 6% drop the month before, figures from the Serbian Statistical Office (RBS) on Thursday show.

It was the 6th consecutive month of decrease in trade, albeit the mildest one, attributed to a slower decline in sales of food, beverages & tobacco (-4.1% vs -7.4% in June), non-food products, except of automotive fuel (-2.2% vs -4.8%), and automotive fuel (-1.4% vs -5.2%).

On a monthly basis, sales were up 5.2% in July, after a 1% increase in the previous month.

In a separate report the Belgrade-based agency said, that Serbia's unemployment rate declined to 9.6% in the second quarter of 2023, from 10.1% in the first quarter.

Employment increased by 39,000 to 2.88 million workers, while the number of unemployed fell by 10.600 to 306.600.
