Russia, Poland signs memorandum renewing meat supplies
Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight (Rosselkhoznadzor) signs a memorandum with Poland in Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad region) on Wednesday, lifting the ban on supplies of meat and meat products from Poland to Russia, the Kaliningrad region government told Interfax.
Expert groups from Russia and Poland started talks in Svetlogorsk on Tuesday to discuss the resumption of supplies of Polish meat to the Russian market. „A memorandum on this issue is expected to be signed on Wednesday,” a governmental official said. The Russian veterinary competition office banned the import of Polish meat in November 2005 following repeated instances of gross violation of veterinary regulations concerning supply of animal products and falsified documents on Polish meat supplied to Russia.
