Sales of DIY chain Praktiker rose 12% to HUF 76.23 billion last year, as demand for home improvement and gardening products rose amid pandemic restrictions, managing director Karl-Heinz Keth said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

That turnover gave Praktiker 32-33% market share.

Praktiker has 20 stores in Hungary and employs almost 1,700 people. Last year, its webshop generated close to 10% of sales.

Hungarian companies make up around 85% of Praktiker's suppliers.

This year, Praktiker expects home renovation subsidies to give the market a boost.
