German do-it-yourself chain Praktiker had gross revenue in Hungary of Ft 47.6 billion in 2007, up from Ft 46.3 billion in 2006.

The announcement was made by managing director of the company's Hungarian unit Karl-Heinz Keth said at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.

Praktiker opened two new stores in Hungary in 2007, and it expects to open its 18th in Békécsaba (SE Hungary) and its 19th in Székesfehérvár (NW Hungary) this year. Praktiker plans to open a further 2-3 stores in the mid-term.

Keth said Praktiker's market in Hungary is still developing. In the long term, the store's product offering is expected to shift from hardware to leisure and entertainment products. He added that Hungarian consumers are becoming more demanding and expect a bigger selection. (MTI – Econews)
