OTP signs voucher partnership with 600 businesses

Retail

More than 600 businesses have agreed to accept OTP Bank's Széchenyi Recreation Card (SZÉP), a voucher that can be topped up and used at hotels, restaurants and theatres, since the card was launched two months ago, OTP Pénztárszolgáltató CEO Lajos Roth said on Tuesday.

The bank hopes to raise the number of SZÉP partnership agreements to 8,000 by year-end, Roth said. So far, more than a hundred employers have issued 700 of the cards to their employees, he added.

Answering a question, Roth said 10% of the more than 600 businesses that accept the card now are in the capital and the rest are in other cities and towns around the country.

Many Hungarians receive vouchers for things such as food, travel and entertainment, as non-wage compensation from their employers. Employers pay a preferential payroll tax on the vouchers.
