Most retailers will have to close for four days
As yesterday was the last Sunday retailers could stay open, under the Sunday closings law taking effect on March 15, stores will be forced to stay closed for four days over the weekend due to the Christmas holiday, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported today.
Stores need to close at noon on December 24 Thursday, and cannot open on December 25 and 26 due to the holiday, nor on 27 due to that being Sunday. This means that citizens need to plan their shopping for four days, the National Commercial Association warned Hungarian citizens.
Stores that are allowed to stay open include gas stations, pharmacies, airport stores and stores smaller than 200 sqms if the owner of family runs the operations, origo.hu reported.
