MNB proposes online, mobile insurance sales

The National Bank of Hungaryʼs (MNB) Financial Stability Council has approved a recommendation to promote insurance products through electronic media, Koppány Nagy, a director at the central bank, told journalists yesterday, according to news agency MTI.

The recommendation, which will be adopted by the industry from September, is designed to ensure that the presentation of insurance products online and in mobile applications be transparent, thorough and user friendly, Nagy said. Over half of prospective policy holders use online offers as a tool of comparison, and 39% of these purchase policies online.
