Lidl signs cooperation agreement with HEPA

German-owned discount chain Lidl signed a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) in order to boost exports of Hungarian produce and food products on the EU market and in trade with third countries, the parties said on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Sales director of Lidl Hungary Péter Hajdú said that through its "Lidl for Hungarian suppliers" scheme, Lidl has been working for years to put as many Hungarians products as possible on store shelves in Hungary and on foreign markets. Last year it exported 726 products of 170 suppliers to 28 countries, to a value of HUF 81 billion. In Hungary, Lidl sells more than 4,000 products of 469 Hungarian suppliers at its 191 stores.
HEPA CEO Kristóf Szabó the partnership will provide an opportunity to organize professional consultations, workshops, and other events for food suppliers.
