Hungary to prohibit deceptive discounting
Hungary will prohibit retailers from increasing prices just before a promotion to exaggerate advertised discounts under regulations in force from May 2022, state secretary Tamás Schanda said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Under the new regulations, the "sale price" retailers tout must be the lowest for the product in the previous 30 days, Schanda said.
He announced the launch of a government website - www.jogsertowebaruhazak.kormany.hu - with a database of webshops that have come under scrutiny for failing to fully comply with consumer protection rules.
