Hungary online retail sales set to reach HUF 160 bln in 2011
Online retail sales in Hungary are expected to reach HUF 155-160 billion this year, up from HUF 133 billion in 2010, according to a fresh gauge of the market by GKIeNET Internet Research and Consultancy.
Online sales accounted for 1.8% of total retail sales in Hungary last year. This year, the share of online sales is expected to reach 2.2%.
Data from the last quarter of 2010 show 1.2 million Hungarians, or 14% of the population over the age of 14, had made an online purchase.
The most popular online purchases by Hungarians last year were food, household appliances, books, newspapers, magazines, clothes, sport clothing, computer equipment and consumer electronics.
