GVH Issues Recommendation to Ease Inflation in Dairy Sector

Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) issued recommendations last week to ease inflation in the dairy sector after a targeted, expedited probe, according to portfolio.hu.
GVH recommended a review of pricing formulas for raw milk as well as the introduction of an online price-monitoring system that allows consumers to compare prices better.
It also proposed a rethink of pricing practices for plant-based drinks and encouraged incentives for sustainable packaging.
GVH urged consultations with industry insiders regarding future legislation affecting price caps and pointed to the necessity of further steps by authorities in the retail sector.
A draft of GVH's report on the probe has been posted online. Market players may comment on the draft until May 20. GVH has also invited industry participants to face-to-face consultations on April 26.
