Govt rejiggers household heating allowance
Gas price and district heating allowances will be added to home allowances and households will have to apply for them at local municipalities, the online edition of business daily Napi Gazdaság reported citing the Ministry of Human Resources.
Contrary to the current system that benefits only those heating with gas or electricity, the new regulation coming into effect on September 1 makes the home allowance available even for those who heat their homes with wood, oil, coal or any other way, the website said.
Individuals with monthly incomes of HUF 71,250 or less, which is 250% of the minimum retirement pension, will be able to apply for the allowance, which will increase the number of recipients as currently the ceiling is 150% of the retirement pension.
