Erzsébet vouchers’ turnover reaches HUF 141 bln in 2014

Retail

Turnover of Erzsébet food vouchers exceeded HUF 141 bln last year, up from HUF 127.6 bln in 2013 and HUF 83.7 bln in 2012, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Saturday citing an official of the Hungarian National Foundation for Recreation.

The head of the foundation's board Zoltán Guller said the turnover largely depended on tax benefits the state was offering for the vouchers. He noted that some 8% of retail food purchases were paid with the vouchers last year. The vouchers are an element of Hungary's unified national voucher system, introduced in 2012.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
