EMAG-Extreme Digital leads online retail sales market
The eMAG-Extreme Digital group led Hungary's online retail market last year, state news wire MTI reports, citing a ranking compiled by GKI Digital.
Hungary's Extreme Digital and eMAG, a unit of South Africa's Naspers group, merged late in 2019. Last year, their gross online sales came to HUF 130 billion.
Runner-up was MediaMarkt and Alza.hu was in third place.
GKI Digital noted that the 15 biggest online retailers in Hungary generated gross sales of HUF 380 bln last year, taking 41% market share.
GKI Digital said online FMCG sales reached gross HUF 76.6 bln last year. Market leader in the category was TESCO, followed by kifli.hu and Auchan. It added that turnover of the five biggest online FMCG sellers exceeded HUF 50 bln.
