Bulgarian Retail Sales Growth Slows in May

Retail sales in Bulgaria increased by 1.6% year-on-year in May, slowing down from a 9.9% rise in the previous month, figures from the Sofia-based National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Friday.

Sales slowed for food, beverages & tobacco (9.4% vs 11.1% in April) and non-food products (1% vs 14.8%).

Additionally, Sales shrank further for automotive fuel in specialized stores (-13.5% vs -9.6%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade declined by 0.8%, following a downwardly revised 1.3% gain in April.
