BP announces opening of new SSC in Szeged
British multinational oil and gas company BP is opening a shared service center (SSC) in Szeged, where the company is creating a total of 500 new jobs, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced today at a press conference. The HUF 8 billion investment has been supported with a HUF 1.9 bln grant, he added.
The announcement signals BPʼs further commitment to Hungary, Szijjártó noted, recalling that the company has already opened an SSC in Budapest, where it employs a staff of 1,200.
The new center will focus on growth areas of strategic importance for BP, including finance, accounting, supply, tax services, human resources, stock exchange trade and customer services.
“Through our SSCs we are carrying out a wide spectrum of our important activities,” said Brian Puffer, Vice President of Global Business Services at BP. “In Hungary, we have great opportunities for employing well-qualified professionals speaking more foreign languages,” he added.
Representing the Castrol Group, BP has been present in Hungary since 1991. Its first SSC in Budapest was opened in 2009, which is currently led by Jamie Anderson, who joined the company in 2013.
