Auchan targets 5%-7% revenue increase in 2006

French supermarket chain Auchan expects revenue in Hungary in 2006 to increase 5%-7% over 2005's Ft 185 billion, Jean Paul Filliat, managing director of Auchan Hungary Kft, announced on Wednesday.

Filliat explained the moderate increase saying the chain has less buying power and faces increased competition. Filliat noted Auchan must already contend with German discount chain Lidl, and Aldi, another low-price German supermarket chain, is expected to appear on the market soon.
