Auchan stores to draw 45 mln shoppers next year

French-owned supermarket chain Auchan expects 45 million shoppers at its 19 stores in Hungary next year, Francois Roux, managing director of Auchan's property developer Immochan, said late Thursday.

Auchan plans to open a store in Győr in the spring of 2014, and it wants to start expanding in W Hungary too, Roux said. It expects all of its stores to have petrol stations, he added.
Auchan employs about 8,000 people in Hungary, adding 2,700 to headcount after it took over seven stores of peer Cora in the spring. Immochan manages about 78,300sqm of rentable space at Auchan stores in Hungary.
